Looking Forward

This week, Alison's daughter, Susan will celebrate her Birthday on Monday. On Tuesday, Mom will celebrate her 54th wedding anniversary (had Dad been around). I also leave for San Diego on Tuesday. Wednesday, Rick goes before the State Board to see if he can get ok'd to take the test for certified appraiser. Thursday, Rose celebrates her Birthday and I come back from San Diego. Then Friday, Sara takes her exam for certified coder. All in all, this is a high pressure week for our family with lots of celebration in between the high stress. I hope all of you have enjoyed your Easter and the reason for celebration. I will look for pictures to post of our Birthday gals!

Week in review

This has been a challenging week since Rick's been sick most of the week. It started out as red dots on his body that he thought was dry skin, then it turned into welts just about the same time a bad cold hit him. So he went to the doctor, had a blood test and the doctor called back with concerns about his liver. His ALTs and ASTs were very high and he said that needs attention and for him to get another blood test. We're awaiting those results. In the meantime, we saw on Web MD how cholesterol lowering things like Niacin and Red Rice Yeast are bad on your liver so he quit taking them. In the meantime, dots were flaring back up last night, fever and barking like a seal. Did I mention no sleep? Even feeling this bad, he and Bob the builder finished the bathroom this week. Bob even learned how to install a GFI plug. He couldn't stand having to go downstairs to the restroom so I'm posting those pics.

Fast Flyin Week

Well, this week started off with me in Denver. What a beautiful place. If it's not snowing there, the sun is out - bright as ever. Rick did well on his own and wasn't too busy for work but just enough to keep him busy. Cathy and me went to dinner on Wednesday. It's always great to catch up with everything going on in their lives. Dan is in Las Vegas working the basketball games this week - March Madness. Andy bought a home and Anne is about to close on a home. That is so great and they are getting into the market while it's slow - so homes are on sale! I came home on Thursday and Rick left for Denver on Friday morning with two other guys for a church training session. Of course, the average age in our church is about 25 so he didn't sleep much and he hasn't stopped talking since he got home. :) All that translates into - he had a good time. My company sent me a laptop and blackberry phone, and as most of you know, technology isn't my strength so I'm glad my techno-geek is home to tell me how to answer this darn phone. Wedding, honeymoon and SFO shower plans for Sara are moving right along. They have booked the Riu (not sure of the spelling) in Cancun Mexico. What an incredible place and its all inclusive! They got a great rate and Sandy (our family friend) is attempting an upgrade to a junior suite. We got to preview some wedding invitations. They are going to have a tough time deciding. They are very cute and designed by Michelle's friend in Oregon. The April bridal shower in SFO is a semi formal event and includes the boys. We're looking forward to it while its a surprise to all of us. No one will tell me any of the details. The bathroom remodel is coming right along. The tile we ordered arrived on Friday. I guess its a stone rather than a tile. Rick is anxious to have it done since it's right outside his office. I'm in town this week ready to eat corn beef and cabbage tomorrow for St. Patrick's day and to celebrate Easter next weekend. Here's wishing you all a Happy Easter!

March is Here!

This is such an exciting time, I can tell that Spring wants to Spring into action. I'm ready for the seasonal change! Actually I was ready last November.
I've been faithful to work out, except for our road trips. I was so close to reporting the 10 pound mark, but didn't make it. Rick is also close to having lost 10 pounds. We keep a 10 pound dumb bell in our family room as a reminder of the extra weight we were lugging up and down those stairs. It's amazing that you have more room to just breathe without 10 extra pounds of fat hanging on you.
My new job is going well. I spent last week in Dallas at their bi-annual managers meeting. This week at home and next week in Denver, then another week home, then San Diego for a few days.
The bathroom is next on the list of interior work. We went toilet shopping last weekend. Mom, we saw the bidet you liked. I was surprised to see that you can spend over $1,000 on a toilet. I was a little worried when Rick wanted to bring a roll of toilet paper into the plumbing store. He did sit on a few toilets, but behaved. Next stop, tile store for new flooring.
Wedding plans are coming along for Sara and Nick. They just selected the music person, ordered Save the Date refrigerator magnets, they started pre-marital counseling, began discussion over the invitation layout for design, returned Taylore's dress since she's outgrown it and ordered the next size up.
Rick is doing well, has work but not real busy, which is nice. He's riding his bike when the weather is nice and time allows. Life is good.
